No real place to put this, but thought it was interesting.
Missouri State University is on the verge of accomplishing a rare feat. The Bears' athletic program has won the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Sports Trophy just twice since the award's inception. With just a handful of spring sports left to play, Missouri State was leading perennial winner Wichita State 2.25 to 2.57.
The competition with Wichita State is going to be intense. The Shockers won the women's team tennis title and came in second in men's team tennis April 29. Wichita State is also primed to win the men's golf championship.
The trophy is determined by the average finish in each of the sponsored Valley sports. That total is then divided by the number of sports in which each school participates. For baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball, the finishes are determined by regular season standings.
